Arrivederci is a 3D animated short of a pop-up book, which explores four different locations in Italy. It illustrates the story of a girl who traveled all around Italy and created a detailed pop-up book after coming home. Arrivederci, which translates to “until we meet again,” showcases her memories in Venice, Bari, San Gimignano, and Milan, four cities that represent four of the diverse regions of Italy.
Here is some inspiration for the crafty, watercolor style I wanted to achieve. Watercolor painting is one of my favorite creative mediums, so my goal was to translate that experience into a 3D animation.

I used Autodesk Maya to model the 3D assets.
I painted all of my watercolor paper textures in Procreate, and textured the remaining models in Substance Painter and Photoshop. Many of my textures included hand-drawn alpha maps, such as the plant textures shown below.
